22-250 1/14 twist

63gr Sierra SMP was designed for this twist rate. This is about the heaviest that you can go. Spitzers would be 55gr at the heaviest.

60gr Partitions are right on the cusp, as I have heard of some guys that shoot them well and others who can't shoot them for beans in their 1/14 22-250s. Try them and see. Shooter's Pro Shop had them for pretty cheap on over runs the other day.

I shoot a Browning A-Bolt in 22-250 with the standard 1 in 14 twist. It stabilizes the 60 grain Partition quite nicely. I will say I went through a number of range trips to get a load that was accurate but in the end, I found it.

I will also say Superformance powder is 200FPS faster than RL15, just as the advertisements say. However, the ads do not say just how dirty this powder is. You can look down the barrel after shooting a few rounds and see spiderwebs. Empty cases smell and it is not pleasant. I use Gunslick foam for cleaning and it drip gooey tar out the barrel. In the pic I listed OAL as 2.470, that is wrong, the correct OAL is 2.460.

I got very good results with RL15 and just as soon as I run out of Superformance I am going back to RL15, much cleaner. I will lose the 200 FPS but I do not care.

My daughters little 799 mini Mauser has a 1:14 twist I believe and it stabilizes the 60 Partition very well. She's seven and used it on her first two deer this year.

Try IMR 4064 IMR 4895 and Varget Nosler 50gr. B-tip or 55gr. B-tip use 210 match primer or Winchester primer Win brass Very accurate out for a long ways. yes it will shoot Nosler partition 60gr. Don't have load data in front of me but I know they will shoot

100 yds?

Yep, 100 yards range at MSSA here in Memphis. This picture does have a minor error, the COL is actually shorter, 2.455. The 70 number put the round in the lands and I was seeing some overpressure signs. Backed it off a tad, accuracy did not change.

I've got the Chrony numbers at home. It is really whipping that partition out there, pushing 3600 FPS if I recall correctly. I don't have anything heavier than 60 grains except some 80 grain AMax's that tumbled badly. May try them in our M&P, confidence is pretty low.

Nosler is showing the 64 grain bullet stabilizing in a 1/14 twist. They are defining the bullet as bonded but not as an Accubond.

Cool. Nice shootin'! I got some ammo with the 22-250 I purchased a while back, but not sure what grain it is. It shoots very well tho in the 1:14 twist barrel.
