Wait till you figure out that the "original" 16g chambers were 2.5". Yes, you can still get ammo for them, just a little pricey.

Was this not also the case for 12 gauges? Somehow I recall people referred at one time to 2.75" as a "magnum" of its own! But that may have only been because of the Dram equivalent of some loads.

Yes, it applies to 12g as well. Went through this with a neighbor a couple years ago. He had an old 16, and the 2.75 was causing him issues. I did some research and discovered that they had once been 2.5". I found him some 2.5" shells...for a Christmas gift.

This place has been out of most things since covid, but I do occasionally find stuff in stock. They make a lot of the oddball stuff.

I have a Fox Savage Model B 16 ga single trigger side by side. I have had it about 23 years. Got it on a trade. I have never shot it. The guy I got it from said he thinks his dad got it at estate sale in early 80s.they never shot it. Had a couple guys asking to buy it. Trying to determine what year it was manufactured. Based on 1 site I saw, it could be 1949 or 1957. Does anyone know what year based on the pictures?

I had an 1148 Remington 16 with a cut barrel that was my #1 bird gun back in the day, had a Hunter arms double too but the stock was too low. Both got stole in a break in in 94 and that the last time I had 16s. That 1148 was the ticket.

From the little bit that I looked, I would agree 49 or 57. Little confusing with what appears to be two date codes.

Any of you east TN 16 gauge fans ought to get over to Smoky Mountain Guns & Ammo. They had Fiochi field & target loads (1 oz #8) for $9.99/box.
I didn't buy them out, but I thought about it.

I have Ithaca featherlight mdl 37 pump with a poly choke that I rabbit hunt with. Shells hard to find and expensive when you find them.
I had that same gun that my brother in law gave me one Christmas when I was 16yrs old. It was made in the 50s. Belonged to his uncle. Killed hundreds of dove, quail, pheasant, and my first deer with that gun. Gifted it back to my brother in-laws son, my nephew, after I taught him to hunt. Wanted it back in his family. Then I bought another Ithaca Featherlight in 16ga to replace it. Love those guns!
