Believe it or not, sometimes I fish for species other than trout. I'm blessed to live where this unique species of bass lives. They are a blast to catch and like trout, live in some pretty places! They were really digging my hopper pattern!

Threw a net on some red horses last week and ended up with one maybe a hair longer than that un mixed in. Although desperate for decent bait, I try not to fish them and turn them back. Have caught several out of the main river, as well as Spring Creek.

Caught a 5 lb 4 oz Coosa (SPOTTED) bass on Lake Mitchell on the Coosa chain of rivers in Alabama. BIL caught one 7/4 but shy of state record

Uuhhmmm, not the same species….
Are they in the sequatchie river?
They look similar to something my grandfather and I used to catch (1980s) there. I vaguely remember them being a little darker colored. Papaw called them red-eyes. Same shape body...and big enough to cover a dinner plate. Just curious. Thanks

Edit to add...they were chunkier than the one in your pic.
