Caught another tailgate full

My buddy and I caught some more Thursday. The heat was brutal even though we were under an umbrella after the sun got up, but the bite made it worth it. We located some fish near the area where we caught them last week and caught 4 keepers pretty quick. I set up a route on my graph around those 4 waypoints, told the Garmin Force to follow the route, and we caught almost all of them doing that. As much as I hate the word, this trolling motor is a gamechanger.

We haven't figured out how to catch a 2 man limit, but we are pretty happy with our results. We actually had #20 in the net and somehow between the net and the crappie coffin we set him free.

Very nice! Which Garmin electronics are you using? Could you show a screen shot of what the crappie look like on your graphs? Every time I find what I think is a school of crappie on the graph, it ends up being white bass. I feel confident I could see crappie if I ever get a school in the transducer range. But then it all goes out the window when I am just randomly trolling crankbaits and so happen to get into crappie and then can't find anything that looks like a school of fish when I retrace my route looking for them. I'm missing something.

Haha,i recounted how many in a hurrynlast fall and somehow came up with 21,do i threw on back.Got home and cleaned them and was putting them in freezer bags and was 2 gillets shorttold my buddies i needed yo go back to kindergarden

I tried trolling cranks yesterday with my girls and we caught a few shorts and a few slimers lord you needed a ticket number to make a pass there werw so many boats. I remembered why I hate fishing on the weekend. I still don't have the system down to troll the cranks I am doing it with bass tackle. Haha

My off days are Thursday, Friday, Saturday. I try to do my fishing on Thursday and Friday. I hate fishing the weekends.

I run Echomap Plus 93sv units. Honestly I've never thought much about identifying crappie on the graph. It may be a difference in the lakes we fish. Where I fish the bulk of the crappie suspend at the same depth or pretty close. When I go into an area looking for a school I can pretty easily figure out what depth they are suspended at, and just look for a lot of fish in one "spot" at that depth. The spot could be 2 or 3 acres. I drop waypoints on big groups of fish and then go back and fish them. I occasionally catch a white bass, but not too often. I need to learn more about my graphs. I am a novice at best. The guy that has been with me my last 3 trips just got into crappie fishing and he's asked a million questions about what we are seeing on the graph and I haven't been able to answer a lot of them. It opened my eyes to what I don't know. I have been watching a lot of YouTube videos trying to learn.

I could be wrong (probably am) but I think crankbaits are most effective for covering water and catching spaced out fish. That may be why you don't find the big school when you go back through. I've seen the same thing. Obviously you could run through a big tight school.

Here's one I marked that I thought for sure would be crappie. They were just above a tree. But that was 100% a school of white bass. Verified by catching.

I would've been fooled by that one as well. I will take some pics on my next trip. Hopefully Friday.
