coincidently, heard of another guy ran his 36v ultrex for 2 hours on level 10 and it popped the 60A breaker. probably good it popped the breaker but 8A over max rated is not good for his motor or controller.

80 and 112 ultrexs use a 60 amp breaker.Have heard of a few have trolling motor problems running wide open for long periods of time,most of the time it frys the board.We have saw it with the amped outdoors batteries a couple times.We havent saw any issues with the ionics so far thatt we sell.We have done tests with breakers and such on stuff we are trying to develope,new products.We have actually ran trolling motors wide open 8hrs straight.You have to do it in water to get the correct amp pull,they dont pull as much out of the water.

doesnt matter which battery you use it has to do with the higher DC voltage. a fully charged LFP will put the full 42V or so on the motor itself and the FETs in the PWM for a very long time. they cant handle it. what eventually happens is the excess voltage heats up magnets so much that they lose magnetism. in response, the amperage increases to stabalize the rpm's and continues until either the breaker trips or something breaks.

a 112 is 52A at full draw so if you run it 8A over for a period of time youre just shortening the lifespan of your equipment.

this is why minn kota put out the warning on the last gen motors. the new brushless motors has more resilience to overvolting.

oh yeah, to answer the question about why the specs listed and why garmin lists those. its because of boat charging systems that may use up to 32v systems which is an intermittent higher voltage while the engine is running. its not a constant voltage being applied for 8 hours or more like it is when youre fishing.

Yep hard on equiptment forsure,but lots of serious crappie fishermen put there stuff to the test.We have saw the amped burn boards in our shop,not any other brands so far.Most serious crappie guys run wide open scanning back and forth with there live sonar.When they see a target they stop and try to catch it,then wide open again.I cant remember how many mile they said hayden jefferies can cover in a day with his ultrex.If your a regular fishermen and not serious you should be ok forsure.We have actually tested some 100amp boxes on trolling motors trying to blow them up.You would be suprised what they can take,have only saw smoke one time so far
