Hunting trip solo?

Never have done solo turkey but have done elk & deer many times. Year I turned 50, rented a horse and spent 15 days bow hunting elk in the Flat Tops by myself. Did find myself talking to the horse occasionally šŸ˜…. Hope you have a great trip, the loss will be on the guys that backed out. I'd find some new hunting buddies!

Lol same here. We arrived at 1pm today. We were unloading our car at the airbnb and one started free gobbling, called him in and my buddy killed him. Went to another farm and I called one in for another buddy and he killed him. Was taking pics of his turkey and one fired off, I killed him shortly after. Great first day. Better get out here man, they're on fire!

Heck yeah. Little worried about the weather. Heat wave high of 86 tomorrow yikes! Usually the high is 68.... I hope to be hunting tomorrow by 1pm as well. Not sure how they will act with that kind of heat? The only thing I have been thinking about is where to go first? lol

I was a little concerned about it too when we arrived yesterday. It was 84 and sunny. Turkeys didn't seem to mind, They gobbled great.

Great time. Weather not so great. Usually wearing long John's with a high in the low 60's. 87 first day and rained all day yesterday and today. Friday was a bust rained all day long , would have been better off sleeping in. Had some action this morning but rain again and nadaā€¦.
High in the low 60's and you're wearing long-johns at night?? I can tell you folks are from the South.

Great trip for sure. Solo was nice because it's hard to find folks as crazy as me chasing these birds all over the mountains. I was thinking of my buddy that went with me before cussing me as I crawled up the mountain through a clear cut or two. 3rd gobbler was at 3200 feetā€¦Not pictured was a collateral damage Jake that was behind the first bird when he came to 4 yards. My first scotch double šŸ˜‚.

I thought of Megalomaniac when I let a strutter walk at 40 yards Thursday afternoon because he wasn't gobbling much and easing by with hensā€¦. Knew I would regret it when it rained the next 2 days and birds shut down! Bird in hand better than 2 in the bush!

I can scout and hunt by instinct and changing sign when hunting alone. I like to go a few days early and speed scout because I like to find a hot spot before I stop to hunt. Then for those friends who aren't gifted in scouting can hunt a decent place we have found for them. Each of us bring our gifts to the table. Take a friend next year.
