Couldn't decide if I wanted to hunt this morning or not. So I hedged and decided to go out at first light and get to a spot I might be able to see ducks and hear quail.

It's easier just to go down to the bank and withdraw $5000 cash, bring it home and set it on fire--while you have someone spray you with the hose pipe and throw mud on you and your shotgun at 3:30 AM. Its fun though. I think.

My place is the high hills in between the Duck River section of TNWR and the big bottoms of the Buffalo River, most of which is now duck clubs or leased to duck hunters (lots of diking). I've actually had crazy duck hunter offer to help pay for me to build ponds on my place to short cut ducks going back and forth between the two areas. I'm sure I could get some ducks if I had those ponds. Until they start getting shot at.

I don't doubt it. Most times it seems totally random when it comes to figuring out where they want to be. I'm definitely better at patterning deer and fish. But not ducks--lol.

It's too much work for a duck here and there. I like the camaraderie of it and breakfast in the blind. Once a year is enough though.
