Does anyone own one of these Bergara models? I've got a chance to pickup a Premier Stalker at a great price. It seems like a lot of gun for the money. Ag Composite stock, premier action, timney trigger, hand lapped barrel. The stock is speckled gray which is the only thing I don't care for since the new models are much nicer looking. Just curious if anyone could share their experience if they own a Premier series rifle. This one is chambered in 6.5CM. Thanks.

Thank you Sir.
Hey man, the Premier Stalker is one of the best pure hunting rifles Bergara has made in my opinion. Very similar to the premier moutain with just a little heavier barrel profile. ANy idea what year it was made? The first ones had an action that was proprietary and had a TImney trigger. Subsequent years had the newer, Rem 700 footprint action and a Triggertech trigger. I have one in 30-06 and 280AI and they are two of the best I have. (See below - 2nd target is at 200 yards) If you don't end up picking it up, I'm going to need to know where to go get it ;)

Nice shooting! This is an early model with a Timney Trigger. So are you saying it's not a Rem 700 footprint action?
I would say with 98% certainty that if it has a Timney, it is not. That being said, the only part that really isn't Rem 700 footprint are the scope base holes. Remington 700 triggers will work and I have had mine in a few different remington 700 stocks, so all of that will work. It should come with bases on it, if not I have a set I could send you. Also, Talley makes a rail for it, you just have to buy the Bergara Premier Pre 2018 rail.

That's good info. Thank you Sir! Other than the scope base screw pattern, is the action just as good as the newer Premier series?

At least as good. I know Stiller made some of Bergara's actions before they started doing their own. Not sure of the timing of the two but my actions and bolts on my two older stalkers are fantatsic. Mine are both original models, pre-2018

Sounds like a real solid rifle. I think I'll pick it up. I'd be even more excited if it was a 7mm-08, but looks like they chambered in very limited calibers. Thanks again to everyone for all the replies.

No problem. It was chambered in 6.5CM, .308, 270, 280AI, 30-06 and 300WM. If you ever need to get rid of it, hit me up. I've been looking for one in 6.5 for a little while but they are hard to come by. COngrats on finding a fantastic rifle.

Do you work up hand loads for people?? I'm interested 😁
Naw...sorry...I'm honestly more of a hack reloader...I really just load up hunting rounds and for my needs, I've never been too concerned with squeezing out every ounce of accuracy....if they go "bang" and shoot to an inch or so from my hunting rifles, I'm happy.

TNRifleman is one of my really close friends. He had a few hundred rounds of 30-06 brass he asked me to reload for shooting paper. We'd read good reports of 165 grain bullets over 57-58 grains of H-4350 so we settled on loading all of them up with 57 grains...it was just plain dumb luck on our part but his rifle really seems to like that load!

Gotcha. I have a hard time finding Barnes vor-tx 7mm-08 is why I was wondering.

Choice Ammunition hand loads the 7mm-08 Vor-Tx. It's in stock on their website. I've purchased from them before and have bought test packs from them. Good company to deal with in my experiences. The owner has always returned my phone calls and emails.

Update: I received the Premier Stalker rifle yesterday. This is the nicest factory rifle I have ever owned. It's definitely a notch above the Christensen Arms rifles I've had in the past. The action is very robust, fit and finish spot on, and a really nice carbon fiber stock. The caliber is engraved and not roll stamped and the cerakote finish is even and spotless. I did confirm that the action is in fact produced by Stiller for Bergara. Thanks for all of the replies!
