Never hunted there but my cousin hunted a property for a few years that borders it. Has a gate at the front and a private airstrip on it. Anyway I rode over it one time with him and deer everywhere. They had it set up for quail but killed some toads on it.
I've always wondered about that place. Such an odd location for a runway. I reckon the guy who owns it is a big coal mine owner if I'm not wrong. Always dreamed of hunting there.

This has been 15-20 years ago but he owned a printing company in Chattanooga and flew in and out of there everyday.

Is FCF rough terrain? I've only seen it through OnX. Looks to be mostly hardwood with lots of draws and ridge tops.

I couldn't remember his name but correct it is Jim Hogue. My cousin and a couple of his buddies had it a few years before some doctors offered stupid money.
One of them guy on it is our dentist. He son killed a giant on it last year during juvenile. Didn't even see the bigger one with the one he shot.

There is a dentist the kinda runs the hunting part of the place. I know his name but I'm not going to say it here. He spends 50 k every year on hunting. There is I think a couple of dentists that hunt there, a plastic surgeon and a x baseball player, he drives a porche suv to the stands

I plan on calling TWRA but isn't the only huntable part the lower section?
Also doesn't appear to have much road access so be using the hiking trails to access mostly?
Is that correct?

It's been several years since I've hunted it, but best I remember, most access is on the "outside", meaning you won't get to hunt where most people see the deer when visiting the Park.

On the November draw hunts, we hunted along Firetower Rd IIRC, but noticed some hunters accessed by parking along the main paved road on the way in. I'd double check that now to be sure though.

We had to sign in at the horse stables when it was a draw hunt. Not sure about that now since it's an open hunt.

On the draw hunts, the first day was an absolute mad house, with people parking and hunting way too close to one another, particularly along the hiking trails. We'd almost never see a deer that first day, and any success we had usually came on the second day after a lot of people left and deer moved again. It was so predictable that after a few years, we'd not even hunt that first day and just hang around camp and let the woods clear out a little.

Again, since it's an open hunt now, it might be different. With all that said, its a neat hunt and beautiful place.

I've hunted it several times. During the draw and open times. "Suppose" to park in the designated spots. I was up there during the November hunt and only saw one truck parked off the road. Parking in parking zones is what makes it so good. Bcse if u don't care to walk the main road a good ways away from the parking zones, you can get into the hood hunting. People there are lazy. They all walk 100 yards from the parking spots and set up. Walk as far away from the parking areas as possible. I missed the biggest deer of my life the first hunt this year. Still sick about it.

I'd say just go… make it a yearly hunt and u will learn. It's a really good hunt if u get away from most. Good luck. I was gonna go but I have to work that weekend.
