Debating my sanity. Heading out this morning to a spot I've never hunted on, but I THINK may be a great spot. It's a small 20 acre property that I've wanted to hunt so on a whim I'm going to give it a go. No one has had permission to hunt this place for at least 10 years and there is a 5 acre thicket on the back side that borders some huge pastures. I don't know if I'll find a tree to climb to be able to look into that thicket, but maybe I'd be better off sitting in a pop up blind anyway!

Saw 3 does and tons of good sign. Looking forward to this spot as the season wears on for sure! I see this property as a little sanctuary away from the big leases and other properties that get hit hard all year. It's somewhat isolated from those places by the big pastures on one side and a highway on the other...kind of a funnel of sorts between them. Lots of browse and thick cover to hide in and the slope faces south so I expect they will love to soak in the sun when it gets cold. Speaking of which I didn't get cold really. There's a drop off that runs along the whole property and the wind was not near as bad as I thought down in there. No bucks seen, but I like the looks of things.

Covering a field now. Hot coffee in a thermos and an apple for the day. Forgot my Walkers ear protection!!!!! I'm sure my tinnitus will love that if I get to shoot!
Have the same problem. Have hearing aids that are only good for TV and amplifying forest sounds. One shot doesn't count for me. Just hoping to get a shot tomorrow!
