Maurer seems to be doing pretty good. Considering what he has to play with and being a true freshman. He makes mistakes but moves the ball down field and gives us opportunities.

He is something to build on yes. Is he as good as the third string QB that played for the Gators this past weekend?? Or Trask? I doubt it.

hard to say either way honestly. But I would say that's a very premature assessment of a first time starter against the number 3 team in the nation.

Here's his stats so far?

I think his stats as a starter (only week he really had first team reps in practice) is a much better set of stats to judge him on (against number 3 team)vs being thrown out for a set a downs here and there where he never had a chance. Nice try though [emoji6]

Considering a true freshman and 2/3 he was brought in was against top SEC teams I would say 300 yards is pretty good? Especially putting up 250+ on Georgia? Yea I'll take that. Still got 3 more years too.

What BamaProud should have said is "hey dip****, you left out Cristobal and Fisher. That makes 3, and earlier in the season Locksley and Dantonio were in the top 25, as well. That makes 5 at a given time." But that would also prove Saban doesn't live in my head, although I consider Dantonio is from the Tressel tree. I guess he's from both.

Saban has a lot of coaches from his tree in the NFL. Urban only has Vrabel.

Yeah. You might be right. But he was a good football coach and teacher of football coaches. I also think he was 6-0 against Tennessee. I know he was 7-0 against Michigan.

he was/is definitely a good coach. Can't argue that

Urban would be better than Taggart,even if he was blind.
