Zeiss Conquest or Nikon Monarch

Both of these are high quality optics. With the Nikon Omega, I could get the higher power, while the Zeiss I could max out my budget with the 3-9X40 with the ballistic reticle. Which one has better optics?

I will start a food fight here, but my Bushnell 3200 Elite is brighter than my son's Monarch, same 4x12. His has not held true and every years seems it's a little off, and needs some fine tuning before gun season.

I did however look through a friend's Zeiss and it was brighter at dusk than my Bushnell..

Go with the Zeiss, I don't think you will be sorry. However, don't count out Bushnell. I would buy it again.

I have owned and hunted a bunch of hours with a lot of different scopes,,

the 3-9x40 z-plex reticle is he best scope for deer hunting in Tn that I have ever used,,

I would love to try the 2-8x36 Zeiss on a Rem R25 in 308

Alot of people are comparing the Bushnell Elite 4200 optics to the Zeiss. The Rainguard feature on the 4200 is awesome and Zeiss is going to incorporte it in their scopes for 2010. I have the Bushnell Elite 4200 on my Accura and it is clear as a bell. The glass is made by the best optics maker in Japan. These are not made in China. The only draw back is the Elite 4200 has 3.3 inches of eye relief, but I had no problems with 110 grains of blackhorn 209 in my Accura, so a .270 should be fine.

All of my rifles now wear European optics. Between those 2 choices definetly the Zeiss is superior optically and mechanically. I know from first hand experience after dropping my rifle down a 50 ft rock cliff that the Zeiss is also built like a tank and held zero after that drop. The Bushnell may be a couple ounces lighter. In the end I would go with the scope that you could afford and not break the bank.

If you are looking for a 2.5-8 Conquest I have one brand new in the box that has never been mounted. It is my favorite scope in the Conquest line.

The Monarch's were very dissapointing to me. I will never own another Nikon. Light gathering is no better than a cheap Tasco.

Zeiss hands down! Check on e-Bay they have some great prices on there quiet often. I bought a Zeiss Conquest 3.5-10x44 NIB on there a couple of yrs ago for $430 shipped to my door.
