I find it interesting to hear some of my hunting buddies tell about their rituals they begin about a week before season opens. Each person has his or her own way of getting mentally syked. Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nuthin special for me. Just making sure I get everything in the Jeep I could possibly need. Oh, and the fact that I run around the yard nekkid the night before. Just the usual.

My brother and I started hunting together about 4 years ago and each time we go out in the woods, we wish each other luck and say a prayer for safety and success. Most peaceful time of the day to me is right when the birds start chirping and the woods are about to come alive. We are so blessed to do what we love as brothers and close friends!!!

One week prior: I make a list of all the things I need and day by day the week of, I start packing and prepping. Here is this evenings agenda

Tuesday: License check, Maps, Wax Bow Strings, wash clothes and place in non scent bag.

Nothing unusual, just washing the clothes and gear (going to hang out on trees in backyard today) and shooting my bow. On Friday I will clean out my entire truck, get rid of all the trash and other stuff, vacuum the cab and spray a little scent killer too :D get it all clean for deer season.

One tradition I have followed since my first opening day (rifle season 2011) is to always hunt opening day on public land. That goes for bow, rifle and turkey season (have not ML hunted yet). I already got my spot picked out, trail cam out and stand hung where I am going to hunt opening day.

I make sure everything is ready. I always hunt ever opening day archery mz and rifle with my dad no matter what. and we have a few things we do like good luck and everything. and I stay excited about deer year round all I think about so it kind of a continuous season with me.

I saved a package of backstrap from the deer I killed on opening day last year. I plan to cook it over the fire Friday night, and enjoy it! Then hunt the same property opening day.

After the season ends and I'm packing away gear I tell myself I have enough. Around this time of year, my ritual is to talk myself into more gear that I "need."

I don't have any here but back in WI, the hunting party would gather Friday night before archery opener at the local supper club for a walleye fry. We'd discuss the property rules, tell stories of last years hunts and enjoy the company. It would end with a shot of Red Stag and a toast to my buddies dad who bought the property 40 years ago.
