Looks like his left eye is out also. This guy has had a rough rut!

Weird year for us... FEWER bucks with broken racks, only 1 buck with a poked out eye. BUT weight loss across all age classes has been exceptional.

I don't know why or what to make of it.

Rut is tough this year, very competitive. Not sure what it means or why, but it's apparent.
I don't know what's going on. 2021, 2022 and 2023 I have seen some really aggressive deer - scarring, busted up racks, 1 eye willies…not sure what to make of it.

My land in Ky had most of the bucks broken up this year, worst I've ever seen it. A true giant even had one whole side broken off….saved his life though.

Got more than one mangled ear but this one is especially ragged and yes, weighs low across the board on bucks.

The eye may heal. I had a 4.5 yr old who was incredibly all yr about 7 or 8 years ago. He was about 120. I didnt really care about shooting him so i avoided that section of the farm to avoid any temptation. He hardley ever left the plot after rut but showed up one day with s big swelled up eye. I would also notice that on night photos, there was no eye shine from that side. As the weeks went by his eye went down and the eye shine returned. So i assumed his vision did also . He survived the season and i never saw him again, but he taught me alot

I have seen more "blind-in-one-eye" deer in the last two years than I have in the previous 20 years combined.

Same goes for bucks with one antler being really crazy - the kind of thing you see from body injuries.

Have had several weird racks as you described past couple years. Been thinking about letting some of our newer & young hunters take them out since they'll probably never meet our minimum requirement.
