Worst Hunting Gear Companies

I have a primos power crow call and a primos truthcam blackout. No complaints on quality yet, I've had the crow call for 2+ years now. I actually like the camera so far, unless it croaks within a year or two I think it will be a good camera.

I think academy's Game Winner brand is real cheap, not sure if its the worst brand but it doesn't have much quality

The only Primos items I ever purchased were a bar of their "Silver" soap, and a Primos Truth Cam Ultra 35. The soap was junk, and I've already sent the cam back for repair after one set of batteries.

I have a primos Up roar call. It was a Christmas present and I use it, not sure if it is my favprite but I use it. It has got a couple deer to stop before and I had one come up close to me with a grunt call. No complaints on quality and I have had it for 2 yrs. But it is a deer call, not much to it.

I had been a user of HS Scent A Way up until I tried that stink bar. I had deer blowing all that first morning at me. Now I know how to hunt the wind, and I had hunted the same as I always do, only with the other soap, and this bar O lye wasn't cuttin' it. :grin:

Game winner is very inexpensive, but I stand behind a few of thier products. Cant expect lexus quality at yugo price, but everything I bought served me exactly as expected or better. When I first started shooting archery I got a dozen of their carbon arrows because my bow was slow and I was shooting mix-matched aluminum. They shot great and I still have them in the case with my old bow, and it flings them fine. But.. I wouldn't even think about sending them down range out of my monster. Bought a game winner coated short handled fishing net. BEST $10 EVER SPENT

Anything Deer Thugs because of the price. $6-$7 more per box of ammo simply because it is Deer Thugs edition... I think they are from Primos to though?

At one time, just about anything sold by Moultrie was pretty bad. I think they've improved their quality some over time.

I think 90% of the stuff out there with Primos, Deer Thug, Bonecollector, Scentlock etc. etc. etc. is garbage. Clever marketing masks low quality.

i wouldnt use anything with bone collector cause the name is just plain dumb. i agree redhead stuff is often junk. Primos predator calls are garbage, they bought randy anderson off. he knows they are crap as well, i bet. wildgame innovations cameras are far from elite.

Rocky boots. Had 2 pair and both lasted only a couple years. Had the same pair of Danner boots now for 9 years.

Never liked Rocky Boots! I'm with you on Danner, had a pair last me 8 years. Leather was still good, bottoms just pretty much fell off. I almost cried when I tossed em. Got another pair now going on 5 years and hardly any wear. Best boots out there in my opinion!

And any scent product made by Primos is junk..

Redhead sucks for sure.Especially their boots.I bought a pair, walked halfway through the yard and my feet were wet.Took them back,got another pair and didn't even make it halfway that time.

Mine are the Danner's that say Cabelas on the tongue. They were expensive as crap but well worth it, my soles are still intact and the leather good, just tread is about gone. Might try to get them re-soled

I think pretty much anything with a made in China label or sticker on it. That doesn't leave many companies /brands anymore but I would rather do without these items rather than waste money on junk. JMO

i like primos at least there calls. but I have wild game innnovations. I don't use there cameras and never have. but anything else seems like a gimmick and I don't like the show watched it once and it was a joke they are a joke. not a huge fa of redhead. HATE block targets. I like under armour on some things but I hate the price I think its way over priced.

I agree with some of these, but I think they also have exceptions. I have the Primos bow sling and I think it was a decent value for the price. I bought it because it had a lot of very good user reviews. Also have a Primos grunt call that works fine. Have some Primos turkey calls that are cheap crap.

I agree there is a lot of junk with the Redhead brand on it, which is another reason why Cabela's > Bass Pro. I do have a set of Redhead camo rain gear that is solid. It wasn't cheap. It's durable, quiet fabric and I've sat in a few downpours and it worked great. Also have a pair of Redhead mid-height Goretex hiking shoes that I got on sale. They were fine once I replaced the worthless insoles, although I wouldn't use them for any serious, long distance hiking.

Russell made some very good gear in their APX product lines. I have some of it and it's good stuff, especially for the price. However, Hanes shut down the Russell Outdoors brand late last year, so they aren't making hunting gear any more.

I would have to agree with Poser that the two brands that seem to be flooding the hunting market with the biggest piles of crap are Primos and WGI.

Another vote for Rocky boots. I've gone through a dozen pairs of them for the family. New, they are great and comfortable. A couple of years later they fall apart and all the company has to say is go buy another pair. At this stage of the game they couldn't give me free boots for life. You want a good pair of boots go with Mucks.

I will agree that a lot of Redhead stuff is junk. But their archey and gun safes are pretty good. It's all made by different brands. Pretty much anything Redhead waterfowl I'm not a huge fan of, yet I keep buying it cuz I just can't beat the employee discount! Hahaha.

I have always had good luck out of Primos stuff.

Wouldn't own anything Wildgame Innovations.

Remington is pretty much junk now.

Leupold's customer service couldn't be worse.

And Barnett takes the cake of worst brand. I have had 3 blow up on me straight out of the box, and have seen MANY get returned.

The remington trail cam is a wild game innovations. Same part numbers when you look at the replacement parts, same shipping address, same camera. Oh yea, don't throw away the replacement parts guide without throwing away the camera first.
