thats some THICK salad in that first pic. What seeding rate and mix did you use?

You must have worked hard cause I just noticed in the pic of you with the two dogs in the back ground the stuff is growing on the rocks at your feet! Dang you got fertile rocks!

you are right those are rocks in that pic by my feet. it is next to a creek bottom. actually there are only rocks on the edge right there 90% of that plot is really good rich soil. usually they eat the der and then in the winter hammer the wheat and in spring the clover gets big and tall and they nail that.

as for seeding rate
50 #der
50 # crimson
100# wheat.
i know that is alot but it seems to work alot better for me the more i put out.
fert is 750#
lime is 2000#

that mix is per acre. i have about 7 acres planted that is a pic of 4 different plots. some of those plots had standing corn planted in the summer. i mowed part of the corn and left other parts stand for cover and to let the deer feel more hidden

the youngin is 10 months in a week. she really enjoys the woods.
yea i know its alot of seed but i really don't like when the plot looks more brown than green.

What was the planting date. Those plots look just perfect for the week pryor to muzzleloader. Just awesome.

I got a similar mix, but got no rain till Oct 7th.

I have not seen mine yet is why I ask.

planted it sep 9. got rain sep 9, 10, 11 totalling 1.5 inches. got an inch on sep 26. then next rain was oct 15 with .7 inches. we have had total of 8 inches in october. those pics are a week old. we got 4 inches since those pics so should be really nice for muzzy season
