Last year we put out corn for our deer from mid-January through mid-March. We put around 100lbs in our Big Azz feeders and of course the deer loved it. With our sightings down this year, I'm a little worried this may have had some kind of detrimental effect.

What are the risks associated with feeding deer during the winter?

Is it possible to transfer EHD during the winter months?

Yeah not that much...even for a week. You should see some of the baiting opperations that go on right across the border in KY.

Honestly, in a lot of areas (largely wooded with no ag fields for winter food source) late winter I feel it does more good than harm.

i have had my deer on feeding programs during the winter for 7 years now.i havent seen any bad effects.gives them food, keeps them in your area,i think it works well.got 100s of trail cam pixs after seasons

I would disagree with that. It's never a good idea to feed deer from feeders unless the deer cannot survive otherwise.
