Actually,Im for it,keeps a few people out of the woods for a couple more weeks, but why seperate seasons?

With a fairly modern Mzl you are at not disadvantage to a rifle, other than a quick follow up shot.

Mzl companies begging to keep seperate seasons so they can sell them?Bout all I can think of other than tradition.

And what's wrong with just keeping a Tradition going? And not everyone uses a Modern MZ just like not everyone uses a Crossbow or a new and improved compound shooting one pin out to 30 and 40 yds during Archery season. I for one think TWRA does a great job with the "seasons". Plus like you said it keeps a few more people out of the woods a little longer

There actually is a disadvantage with a muzzeloader many people do not know how to clean and maintain one. Therefor they have alot of trouble.

i love the muzzle loader season,i would hate to see it go but id kill just as many deer as last year,oh hell i didnt kill 1 last year, let me get back to ya on that 1 lmao.lets leave some things as they have been ,no single shot rifles ect allowed .

I would love to see revolvers allowed over top part of the bow & muzzle seasons. I would limit to 6" - 10" barrel with a .357 mag minimum. Easy to carry and lots of fun. With practice, 40 yards is not unrealistic. I have only taken one deer with my revolver.

Anything but a flintlock should be banned.....people always talk about carry on the hunting tradition ha yea right because our forefathers were smacking deer 200+ yards with an old smoke pole back in the day (enter sarcasm) Traditionally separating the seasons made sense back then but now you might as well tact weld a ram rod to your rifle and go hunt mzl season

Couldn't agree more. M/L season makes perfect sense if we ignore the invention of the .209 primered inline.
I personally believe that only sidelock guns should be allowed during M/L season.

Why should I have to use a flintlock or more of a traditional muzzleloader,my smokeless
has to be loaded from the muzzle just like them. I like having a choice. This post looks like someone stirring the pot. lol

I like the separation. And have no problem with the modern smoke/smokeless pole! And havr no problem with the old style muzzleloader. But I do think that If it was a pure old style muzzleloader season we would have more wounded and unfound deer because of unethical shots from some of these morons hunting now days!

Its tradition and many hunters like it. PA has a flintlock season.

I like separate seasons dividing up weapons I wouldn't mind a primitive archery (recurve, long bow) as well as a spear season that opens a couple of days early, nor would I wind a shotgun as well as a pistol season somewhere in there to break up rifle season. The more the merrier.

Poser, your crazy, but I like these thoughts. Changing weapons is fun.

However, as is,mzl seems kinda prefunctory. See my post on KY's early mzl that opened today. A gun wouldn't have helped me any at all. But a bow wouldn't have cut it.

Your forogt atlatl. circa Clan of the Cave Bears and stuff

My first MZ gun was a CVA Blazer which was about as primitive as it gets...lol. I think I paid about 50-75 bucks for it , new out of the box. it had no adjustable sights...lol. I can not remember how many times it misfired....it was a crap shoot, no doubt.

I believe that far fewer hunters would venture out with a flintlock and that does nothing but hurt the sport and limit the participants, imo.

To be honest, until there is a way to check every deer for proof of what the deer was killed with, hunters will shoot deer with modern weapons and say that killed it with a primitive weapon....

For every ethical hunter, there are many more unethical, especially hunting private land and online checkin.

The thing is this...how primitve is a bow these days? many bows are capable of being deadly at distance out to 70 plus yards....personally, i have never attempted a bow shot past 20 yards and never will, but my bow is not as MODERN as many are.

Modern inline MZs can shoot 200 yards accurately....amazing that they are still called primitve...lol.

There are a lot of WHYS in modern hunting......not sure we have time to go in to them all...just enjoy what you choose to do and let the rest lay peacefully....enjoy.
