This is not meant to stir anything. I just see them all of the time and I have never understood the appeal of a single shot that cost more than gun (ruger m77 wood/stainless in .270). I have shot an encore once and I understand that everyone has a preference and not trying to start a "best caliber" war here. Just curious, if anyone has one, please tell me you prefer it.

I have never preferred a single shot in any gun. I have a single shot .17HMR in a Neff and got it when it was the only game in town for that round. follow up shots take to long on deer size game imo and I have read a few threads where folks state they can reload 1 as quick as a bolt action, id have to see it to believe it lol not and get a accurate shot off. id take a semi auto over a bolt if the cost/accuracy was close. all my center fires are bolt actions. I have seen some very accurate but not always. the barrels for different calibers are nice but cost is not so nice. going from a short stroke 243 to a 300wm caused me to jam my winmag 2 years ago & that's a lesson I learned the hard way. muscle memory means as much in rifles as it does for pistols imo

Encores are versatile. I have a 50 cal ML, 243, and 460 S&W Magnum. It's all you really need for all of North America. They are also very light and easy to carry in the woods. I also love the accuracy. My .243 and ML barrel are crazy accurate and will embarrass many bolt action rifles when shooting for groups. I have several different types of rifles, and the Encore goes with me at least 3 times a season.

Note...mine is at least 10 years old when TC made great products. The new Encores, IMO, are hit and miss and are not made to the same standards as in the past. Most are great, but I hear and read a lot of people having accuracy issues with the newer models and have to modify parts to get acceptable accuracy and results to their liking.

Love mine. It's accurate. It carries And handles like a dream. It's like carrying around a toy. Very easy to use in a tree stand. Lot shorter without an action. I hand had it 14 yrs and haven't needed to shoot twice yet but once and I did pretty fast.

In 30 plus years I have got two shots at a buck twice. Killed both and one was with a single shot. I have never felt at a disadvantage because I shoot an Encore. They are accurate, verstitle, easy to carry and can be made to hunt any type game with interchangeable barrels. Enough said.

I shot a buddies and it shot fine but I'm just not a fan of single shots. I just can't see spending that kind of money on one when I can buy a nice proven bolt action for the same money. It also would be a little easier for me to justify buying one if the barrels for them didn't cost almost as much as a new rifle.

I love mine, just my preference i guess. My .270 has a 24" barrel and it's short enough to swing around quick in the stand if needed and really light. It's the most comfortable gun i've ever put up to my shoulder. The main thing is being confident in your rifle and i am with my Encore with my mz and rifle barrels.

I have a TC Encore .50 ML. I like the way it feels and shoots. It is very accurate. Knock on wood, I haven't missed a deer with it yet. I know I could use other ML's, but they do not feel as good as a TC Encore to me. Mine was bought for me by my wife when they first hit the market. It is wood/blued and looks very good laying across a deer in pictures too.

Those statements from above sum it up for me.

I have found one thing that I don't like about them though. The break down lever stabs me in the back when carrying across my back in a cross ways fashion.
Other than that, I love them.

One of greatest single shot break actions ever made IMO, and you can make it any caliber you want.
If I am going to carry a single shot it will be a Encore. I have owned NEFs in the past and they will not touch a Encore.

for the most part i agree in general the quality of a t/c will produce a better shooting rifle than a nef but for the money a nef single shot is the ticket for a budget rifle

i have a 280 nef single shot will out shoot 98% of any t/c and most bolt rifles

as far as a single shot it is not a hindrance i have killed 3 back to back several times

I traded for on this year because I held my buddy's and loved the way it felt when shoulder. They are from what I read very accurate and quite simple now that I said all of that I am not sure I'll keep it around. For the following reasons. I thought oh it would be cool to maybe get a pistol barrel and grip for it too. Wrong that's against the law. I thought that was part of the selling point. Second the barrels are more than I can buy I whole gun for in many cases. I am just not seeing the point. If I do keep it I'll just leave the muzzleloading barrel on it and treat it as a standard muzzleloader because as I said they do feel really good at the shoulder to me.

I have killed Bull Elk out to 190 yds
Also have a shotgun barrel for turkey hunting
MZ season is know usually the best time for mature bucks

My elk setup is good for 250 yds
Actually sending gun off for tune up this week

I have loss use of right eye so it's a easy gun to shoot right or left handed

Love mine, its about 12 yrs old. still shoots like a new Ml.Havent got a rifle barrel yet. Wanted a 25-06 but my buddy just sold me a ruger 77 w scope for 400.00. I may get a 243 barrel for my grandson.

I have an Encore 243, all I shoot, other than my number 1 Ruger 7 mag. I love single shots. All A person needs.
