Why a hen?!

So this my first season turkey hunting and only my third chance to get into the woods. Not only do I finally call a bird in I have it within 10-20 yards of me for bout 20 minutes, but it's a hen. I keep hoping she'll call something in but nothing. Finall I see movement through the brush and my heart starts to race and then...it's a deer! This is going to kill me!

You will call in ALOT of hens in your turkey hunting career,get used to it. The good thing about that is that your calling isn't terrible!

Yup you will call in hens sometimes. I've had hens real close before

man, last year when I first saw my first gobbler (it was a jake), I had the worst case of tunnel vision ever!!! I had such an adrenaline dump that morning. It was almost scary the tunnel vision was so bad.
