I just got my 308 barrel from McGowen that I am having mounted on a savage 110. I am shipping the barrel and the rifle to Sharp Shooter Supply to have them install the barrel and have the action time and trued. I thought about installing the barrel myself but they only charge $50 which is less than I would pay for the wrench and headspace guages.

Anyhow, I can ship thru Fed Ex, UPS, or USPS. Fed Ex will make me ship overnight which will be outragously expensive. The Post Office probably won't pay if they lose it even if I insure it. My brother found that out for me when he shipped some rifles. He did get his rifles eventually, as in 31 days after they were shipped but they pretty much let him know that they weren't going to pay him if they did not show up eventually because he could not prove that the guns were actually in the boxes. The weird thing about it is that the rifles that were shipped in plain boxes arrived rather quickly and the ones shipped in gun cases took 31 days. If I go thru the post office, I will definately use a plain box and take pictues of the rifle in the box and take down serial numbers but I doubt it would help if it did get lost. Has anyone shipped thru UPS? Are they a pain to deal with?

I don't ship anything of value through USPS..They are overpaid retards IMO... I only use UPS. Good luck on getting them to accept your rifle.I know the law says a non FFL holder and ship a firearm to a FFL holder, but try telling the shipper that.

I'm not a FFL holder, but I have had rifles shipped thru USPS and UPS. No problems with either of them. Always get a tracking number, and watch it daily. My rifles were being shipped to FFL holders when I bought them on Gun Broker.

Beleave it or not it don't matter who you use fed Ex, UPS or USPS there is a chance that it will be in the hands of the USPS. Both Fed Ex and UPS use the USPS for a lot of there shipping. Which is one reason they are more expensive

UPS will not take a rifle that someone ships through us and take it to the USPS for them to ship.

It ain't gonna happen.

We deliver the UPS Basic stuff to the USPS to deliver. I believe it is the cheapest way to ship anything UPS. QVC and a couple of other big companies use it mostly. It was an everyday thing for me to deliver over 200 pkgs to the Post Office thru Christmas.

Ups is the best! I have used them 5 times, no problems! And my company has had an account with them for 20 years with no problem!

Never have really understood this service. I deliver these packages to a Post Office too, and then they make the final drop off. Go figure?!
