This is my first year planting fall/winter plots on my newly purchased property in Lincoln county, so I was wondering when is it a good time to plant? In southern Alabama and Georgia we always planted in the last week of Sept., but I know the temp. changes earlier up here. Any help would be great.

Yep, i like first two weeks of September in Wayne county....depending on the rain................

I like to stagger the planting of my plots. I have read that the usage of a typical fall attractractant plot like wheat, oats, crimson, rape, etc, is greatest 4-6 weeks after germination. What that means to me is that I plant a couple of bow hunting plots in early September and then plots that are better suited for gun season can wait til as late as the first week or two of October.

Thanks for the input everyone. I think I will also stagger the plots and plant the first of them Labor Day weekend and the others again at the end of the month. I need to plant something that can take a large population, but keep them coming all season long.
