What's Missing?

Anybody ever see does group up this time of year without fawns??? I know a couple hunters were on neighboring farms for the velvet hunt. Could that sudden hunting pressure cause these girls to group up like this? I have does with fawns hitting mineral before and after so there are some does with fawns, but this behavior here seems weird to me. It was a series of several pics as they meandered around getting a drink, but they seemed alert in every pic.

Fawns are still not always travelling with their mothers yet. I don't take any fawn recruitment numbers I get on camera seriously until mid-September. I'm getting fawn recruitment numbers now of 5-10% on properties I know have far higher recruitment.

Yea we are seeing fawns everywhere. Then we will get pics of up to 4 does with no fawns. I think it's more of a happenstance pic when fawns are laying. I'm hoping to pluck a few does during bow season to where there may just be fawn pics later in the year

In the past 3 days, I've been outside from sun up till sundown.

From what I've seen, fawn recruitment is abysmal... only about 15% of does habe a fawn... BUT all those fawns have almost lost their spots... they are HUGE... like 50lbs.

I initially thought the rut was late last year (end Nov), since I didn't observe any rut activity when I was hinting mid Nov... now im wondering if the 1st rut was EARLY last year... like 1st Nov.

Same here. Something special is going on in Ohio this year. Lots of healthy fawns. I can't say the same for my TN spots though.

For western Middle TN, fawn recruitment is abysmal this year. And yearling bucks look extremely stunted.

Me and my buds are not seeing many fawns on our cameras in SW TN. A lot of big lone does, so I'm hoping the fawns are out of the frame, maybe bedded in a thicket nearby. I did get this pic Sunday.
