I like to be in the stand atleast 30-45 mins before light. It'll start getting light around 7

Not me. I try to get there around 15 minutes before daylight. In 37 year of hunting I've killed 3 deer in the first 30 minutes of daylight. Most of our clubs sightings occur from 8 o'clock on. I am not going to freeze for an extra hour before daylight. Course I am retired so I can pretty much hunt when I want to during the season.

depends on if I'm hunting in woods or food plot..... I use to get there and sit in the dark but finally realized i never saw anything before 7:45....FP i try to get there right before daylight....

I've been hunting for 38 yrs, hunting in the woods I have killed very few deer before 9; 00, around fields I've seen them around daylight. I almost always hunt timber like to be in the woods around 8

Depends on the conditions of the set up. I've been in the tree 2 hours prior to dawn when access and bedding dictated that I be in the tree early. On the flip side I've had areas that I could still hunt into @9:00am and set till 2:00 because the bedding and travel routes between bedding dictated that. My preference is 30 minutes prior to shooting light

any time before daylight..I have bee hunting for 53 years..I love to hear the Woods wake-up.. the Birds songs, the Owls.. even the sorry old Coyotes howl. I like to evening hunt til dark too.

I like 30 minutes before legal shooting hours. Gives me time to settle in and let the woods calm down and hear everything wake up. I have killed very few deer at first lite but it has happened on occasion. A few of my better bucks have come at first lite as they were trying to slip back to bedding areas after maybe staying out just a little too long in early bow season.

I have killed only a few deer soon after daylight. No doubt walking clumsily to my stand in the dark with a flashlight has contributed to my lack of early success.

If it's easy access, I like to get there early enough to be settled by shooting time. But, if it's deep woods or difficult access, I like to creep in quietly at daylight. I don't like shining a flashlight where deer aren't used to seeing it and the extra noise is also alarming to deer. I have occasionally bumped deer going in but I feel like I am alerting even more deer when I'm busting brush with a torch lighting up the woods.

That's exactly my take on it. :tu:

I like to be in the stand at least 45 -60 min early. Use a climber, and it can be a bit noisy. I like to get settled in early and let the woods go back to calm before light.

I love being at my spot in total darkness to see the stars for a while then watch the woods wake up. Love hearing hoot owls and seeing the moon. However, once the alarm clock goes off and I'm jolted from my comfortable sleep, this doesn't sound like such a good idea anymore and most of the time it's 1st light by the time I actually make it to the woods. :)

Thats me, I can usually get up the first day early, but the next night stay up late with wife, have a few beverages, watch some football and its harder to get up early next day

It really depends on the area I'm hunting, and what the deer dictate. If I'm not bumping deer on the way to my stands, then I much prefer to arrive just early enough to settle in with about ten to fifteen minutes to spare.

A long walk, public land, jumping deer..in those situations I'll get there as early as it takes.

In general, if I'm gonna spend extra time on stand, I'd rather do it with shooting light available.

As early as I can stand it...which isn't early enough in most cases. But there is nothing cooler than letting it settle down, sun starts coming up, and there are deer right in front of you because you've done it right. So an hour before sunrise is ideal
