.....acceptible accuracy out of my AR? I traded for an LMT Defender 2000 5.56 with a 1/7 twist and haven't been overly impressed with accuracy. It had a Burris AR 332 on it when I got it but have since put a Prostaff P223. Ive tried SSA by Nosler 77 grains and Winchester match 69 grain loads and some cheap ultramaxx stuff. None of it broke a 3" group at 100 yards. I don't expect 0.5 MOA but it would be nice to beat 3 MOA. Or am I expecting too much from it?

LMT rifles should shoot beautifully.
Appears you have a picky rifle. I'd call them and ask what they recommend. Otherwise, you are buying $25 boxes of ammo to try and find what combo works.

That kind of accuracy would be a no go for me!!! and those cheap ultramax bullets shoot great in my rifles. I've tried several including Hornady, Blackhills, and the ultramax 55 and 52gr shoot right at MOA or less for me.

My strip stock CMMG M4LE 1:9 shoots moa or better with a Nikon Prostaff 2-7x on it. I shoot handloaded 52-65gr bullets, but have also shot a little bit of factory fodder into 1.5-2" groups

I emailed LMT and they asked for the serial number. Said it passed all quality checks before leaving the factory in 2010. I'll ask what ammo they used and maybe thatll be a starting point

Yeah, my DD M4V5 stacks everything beautifully. Is everything torqued correctly on your AR? Such as rings and base.
It has an M-223 one piece mount. I dont have a torque driver to check the numbers....but don't have a problem out of any of my other rifles. I always try not to overtighten tho

I have a S&W M&P ar and the accuracy is not good. So far I have found a single bullet/powder combo that results in MOA accuracy. Some of the ladders have such poor results I repeated them to insure it wasn't my mistake.

Maybe this summer I will arrive at satisfactory results.

Have you shot other ARs? If so, what kind of accuracy have you been able to produce?

I don't have much experience with ARs unfortunately. Lots of time spent behind bolt guns, but this is my first AR.

It may be a simple matter of spending more time behind the trigger. Standard fire controls are known to be pretty bad compared to some of the aftermarket offerings. May be something to consider.

More trigger time is always a good thing. And it has quite a bit stiffer trigger than my bolt guns...but, im pretty confident off of sandbags and a bench and that my trigger pull is steady. Above average id say. The gun is rock solid when it goes bang, leading me to believe theres something more to it than my error

Most any AR will shoot near moa or close. Some will shoot better pretty easily. Sounds like LMT was less than helpful; I reckon that all their rifles pass quality checks before leaving the factory. Translation: don't bother us, you're on your own is my take on their response. All .223s that I have ever fooled with shot Sierra 52g bthp MKs into tiny little groups over Win 748. Sounds like you are an experienced shooter; hopefully you can find a acceptable load for it. Good luck.
