I love the Aguila stuff. It's clean, accurate, cycles flawlessly in all of my rifles and pistols, and performs really well for dispatching varmints and small game. I use 3 different varieties of their loads and all perform very well. Their Velocitor loads are pretty fast at a billed 1,700 fps. They'll take a squirrel's head almost clean off. They can be a little pricier than some, but I just watch for sales and buy in bulk.

I apologize for the brain fart on this one. It's not the Velocitor round. It's the Supermaximum. My brain just ain't what it used to be.

I used to always use whatever was available and cheap, and it really never disappointed me. But, I was building a new squirrel gun and wanted to suppress it, so I tried a variety of more expensive and speeds. My new favorite from all the testing turned out to be Norma Tac-22. Go figure. I really didn't think it would be.

So that's going the way I thought it would, no one is close to CCI. But lets be fair.. most of us are plinking and just using a .22 for trigger time. We aren't going to buy Lapua or Eley at four times the cost, like our forum match shooters will.

I don't see any big difference in the accuracy of any of the .22 ammo I shoot. But CCI is the only rimfire ammo I have had that allows my guns to function flawlessly.

Eley subsonic didn't do well for me until I used it suppressed. Then it really did make a difference. Unless you are shooting 5 shot groups at 50 yards, most anything works. I like cci, but not mini mags.

RWS and Norma are the same just different labels

Same company owns both

Norma TAC-22 is the same as the RWS sport ammo in the orange boxes

Good stuff

I have to use something with a little extra umph to shoot in my TacSol 22 conversion for my Glock 19. TalSol suggests mini mags and thats what I use.
In my Model 41, I use Blaser for cheap plinking.
For squirrel control in the backyard, I shoot Winchester CB longs out of my Winchester Model 75.

Is that the problem with the ammunition? The chamber?
I avoided buying anything advertised with a match chamber because I like to use El cheapo ammo most of the time which for me is aguila
I can still find it for 5 to 6 cents a round
CCI mini bags are cleaner but for just plinking I don't know that they are worth double the cost
I try not to run any aguila in our old Marlin 99 because it's a P.I.T.A. to clean but the bolt actions and even my 39a I run it often
I was mainly wondering about some of that better ammo for my 457
Our indoor range sucks I believe it's 75 ft which is obviously only 25 yd and I can usually get dime or nickel size size holes with any of those guns and any of that ammunition if I try
But the place is crazy dark inside and a scope helps hoping to shoot some outdoors at a little more distance soon

No, it chambers fine. Just not accurate in my rifle.
