Once again our bell peppers are a flop.

We did discover by accident that the hot peppers, (hot red chili peppers and Jalapenos) like the dry sucky section of the garden that nothing wants to grow in.

Now the question is: What do we do with the peppers NOW?
We don't eat them except IN stuff like salsa and the tomatoes aren't up to speed yet.

Smoked one of the Tobasco chili peppers and will be adding it to a pot of chili soon.

What about drying them to grind and use later? Anybody do that? How do you dry them? I put a couple on the window sill last year and they molded rather than dry out.

I dry them in a dehydrator.

I've got several still in the freezer from last year. They mostly go into soups and chili.

But grinding them is a GOOD idea! I might try that myself.

i love jalapenos. I pickle them. I like to fry some suasage, add in cream cheese, stuff in the pickled peppers, cover with shredded cheese, put in oven until cheese melts. MMMMMM!!!!

Ill try throwing them on the smoker or dehydrator depending on what I have running on a given day.

Hope I don't mistake them for the sundried tomatoes! :D

Hang them up to dry. Use fresh in recipes. Take bites to grow tolerance. Bring extras to the mexicans in the kitchen at work (in my case), seems they put hot peppers in everything.

Just picked a dozen or so. Got a mess of black eyed peas and purple hulls so Ill toss one in with them tonight.

The rest are going to get dehydrated for use later.
Thanks!

I take a needle and thread and string them up and hang them to dry. Once dry I put them in a blender. I use them in chili and add them to spaghetti, pizza, etc.

Another thing I like to do is to alternate planting hot and sweet peppers in a row. I like the flavor of the sweet and in cross-pollination the sweet take on just enough heat to make them interesting. I split them open and stuff them with meat, cheese, and onions and them fry them. They sort of melt and become limp in the process but taste good.

I always string them up and hang them on the back porch, until they dry and run em thru the wifes food processor. I do the same with some green beans my Dad called them leather britches LOL
