So im thinking i would like to pick up a tikka in the stainless in a 30-06 what is everyone's opinions on these rifles?

I like the rifle, but I'm not crazy about the cartridge. Unless you plan on elk hunting with it, there are several options with as good or better ballistics with a lot less recoil. But get what you like, man.

I don't think you can go wrong with that choice. The T3 action is one of the smoothest if not the smoothest action on the market today. All of the Tikka T3 actions are the same, all long action. The -06 would be an excellent choice. The barrels are made by Sako and the accuracy of the T3 is awesome. I like the Tikka T3 Hunter version better than the Lite version. I just cannot warmup to the cheap, and noisy stock of the Lite. I had one and then sold it because of the stock. The Hunter has the wood stock and looks and feels much better IMO.

Pro: VERY accurate, smoothe cycling, well made disregarding some plastic, and VERY accurate

Con: plastic bolt shroud, expensive, somewhat flimsy plastic mag, supplied scope rings not up to overall quality of rifle

I would like to have one in 6.5x55. PH

Buy it if you want an extremely accurate rifle!

Yep.... I bought the exact rifle you are asking about (the Lite version).... I bought it to hunt in bad weather with... took it to the range to sight it in and was blown away. 5 shotss i enlarged hole at 100 yards... the gun even outshoot some of my custom guns. crazy accurate guns.

Great guns, i could not get past the stock and definitly could not get past the plastic mag. For that money I just cant see why they would give you a plastic magazine.

Someone mentioned on another forum that the SS/Syn were one sale at Sports Authority, though I think that there are only two of these stores in TN and both are in the Memphis area.

i've got a T3 lh 30-06 with a vias muzzle brake and it has the recoil of a 243 --loud as the devil but its a trade off
i really like the way it shoots and slick cycling but like everybody else the stock leaves a lot to be desired and i have seen many after market options

I almost bought the Tikka T3 a couple of months ago. I actually went to the store to buy it, and changed my mind when I got there.

I still like it. It may very well be the next rifle I buy. The bolt is very smooth and the trigger feels pretty nice for a stock trigger.

i meant to say i have not seen many after market options

I love my Tikka T3 lite. After 6 years of abuse, the stock looks fine. It actually looks much better than any wood stock that I hunt with. It is very accurate. I am even happy with the plastic clip. I have no doubt that this gun will be my "go to" gun for decades.
