A sick feeling that is. Shot an 8 point sat evening high, had good blood on the arrow, decent trail for 50 yards then nothing.....looked until 1am and while making circles I,found intestines on a barb wire fence. I didnt shoot for my exit & didnt realize the deer was quartering to me as much as he was, untill thinking back about the shot. First deer I ever lost. Shootimg a rage I dont mean u,have a dead deer everytime. :( going back to look for buzzrads and bad smells tomorrow but I still feel like junk hitting a deer like that
 
I don't care how good you are it will happen sooner or later. All you can do is make sure of your accuracy and adequacy and lesson the chances of it happening again.
