Well I caught it, what is it?

I caught this little guy in Dale Hollow a couple weeks ago. I've caught a ton of warmouth and a ton of rock bass in my life, but I have never seen one colored like this. My guess is a warmouth, but it could be some sort of hybrid, I don't know.

Never seen a warmouth that looks like that but all ive caught were in SC and dark water. The shape looks right for a warmouth.

It's been said. Definitely a war mouth, similar to a red eye. You are allowed to eat those.

It may be a warmouth but all the ones I have ever seen are darker than that one.

Warmouth is my guess too and I wonder if it's taboo in some places to eat them

Markings are just like every Warmouth that I have ever seen, except the fish is lighter, which I assume is due to the highland clear lake from which it came. In my part of the world, they are very common "swamp" fish, however being much darker than the one pictured. It is "the common sunfish" in Okeefenokee swamp. Of course, it could be a smallmouth! Or a trout.

Just googled up warmouth, definately you caught a warmouth. I don't know what the heck I catch that I refer to as a warmouth haha.

my exact words... I have been catching something in the creeks and ponds around here my whole life and was always told they were warmouth... they are black,most have blue stripes on the sides of their mouth.. we always threw them back..
