Weird trailer light situation ……

Hopefully someone has a simple explanation of why my trailer lights flash …..about every 5 seconds with the lights OFF on my truck , a 2020 Silverado.

With the lights turned to AUTO on my truck?
- the truck lights are not on
- the door to the truck is not open
- the right trailer running light is not working but everything else works ( I thought it might be an indicator thing)
Why is this happening?

That's definitely a strange issue.
I wonder if somehow it's getting a signal from the theft deterrent system?
On many vehicles those will also flash, like in the video.

Does it continue for several hours?

Mine does it too, 2016 F-150. I think it's part of the security system of the truck, meaning if the trailer were to be disconnected while the alarm is on, it would set the alarm off.

My life has centered around my wife the last 8 months and I don't honestly remember it doing this but I was checking lights hoping to get it out soon now that she is over chemo.

Glad you got it figured out. There have been some module issues with some chevy trucks in that time frame, but think they were more with trailer brakes.

Well part of my problem was crude around the ground but a wire brush fixed that.

Glad you got it figured out. There have been some module issues with some chevy trucks in that time frame, but think they were more with trailer brakes.

since I bought my boat 3y ago, I've replaced the entire wiring harness, 2 marker lights, 5 connections, and had to reground various points 4x.

Every 5th time or so, I hook up my trailer, and some random gremlin is keeping my trailer from lighting up.

Glad your wife is done with the rough stuff! Hopefully you get into the fish!

Missed the fall season but they'll be back THIS FALL!!

My buddy came over today and they are all going now! Combination of the ground I fixed yesterday and previous factory connectors! They just crimped them and no shrink wrap & / or liquid electric tape on the problems. It was fun to see him diagnose the problems. Salt Away helps but doesn't cure!
