Wednesday night's trip was a bit different, at least in what I caught.

Chummed initially with corn as usual. Fished mainly with corn but also brought some of my homemade boiled dough bait.

First fish to run was a 4 pound black buffalo, and that's the first buff I have hooked on any type of bait.

Later on, after a turtle, my little rod started screaming and I hooked into a BIG carp. With 8lb line I had to let him run a lot, and he ran hard, probably upwards of 15 pounds. My buddy was shining the mag lite, when I noticed the line from my big rod was not where it belonged. I pointed it out and he went and hooked into that fish.

Then to my frustration, the big carp I had on the line became hung up in something, and as I was just realizing that I was hung, I pulled a bit too hard and broke off.

But on the other line, my buddy brought up a 9 pound smallmouth buffalo which I netted and had him take a pic of me with it.

The first buff was caught on corn and the second on my homemade bait. Both were released... even though I don't like the huge number of buffs in the river, I still let them live this time.

I wonder if the moon phase made the bite different or maybe it was more spontaneous but I hope to get into some of those big carp again, because they fight better than the buffs.

Going out after work for some full moon night fishing.

I read a lot of your post where you are using light line, why not get some stronger line
the fight is more of a challenge with light line. I have a 7' ugly stik with 15 pound line and I can pretty much just haul them in with that setup.
