It's dry out there drier than I ever remember.... Food is plentiful in the bottoms.

I am not seeing anything positive in the long term forecast for West TN. I am ok with it being dry as long as it gets cold but that does not seem to be the case whatsoever. I was hoping last year was rock bottom but I am not so sure...

Seems like that's what I say every year…"can't be as bad as last year"

It is going to be a long season without water or colder temps. This weekend isn't looking very promising

True but getting up at 3:15, eating breakfast and getting skunked is not as attractive as it used to be. waking up at 7:30 and drinking coffee in the recliner as I get older is starting to pull on me some mornings.
If you are not killing anything why get up so early to go?

I'm not a big duck hunter like you guys, and I realize little to no back water and 70 degree temps are not desired by any of you. With that said, I know a few boys who thumped them this past weekend, along the Forked Deer River. They even killed a black duck, earliest I have ever seen one. Are these local ducks?

No there really aren't any local ducks. We usually kill a handful of black ducks each year. There was some good hunting this weekend especially if you were able to hold birds before season. Some promise to this system Sunday but these temps are awful...
