Very sad story indeed. I've told my wife and family that if I was ever in a situation similar to this, where the quality of life was left to machines, to remove them and let me go. I'm 52 and have spent the past 22 years confined to a wheelchair )paraplegic). I'll be honest; it scares me sometimes to think what the next 5-10+ years will hold for me. The thought of being confined to a home or room, is suffocating. I've often wonder if I would have the strength to be a modern day Jeremiah Johnson; to go in the woods and let nature take its course.
