What do yall normally use for walleye? I'm noticing the fish hang very tight to the bottom. Really wanting to learn how to be more successful. I did catch this one this past weekend on a grub jig.

Half to 1 ounce jig with orange head, small amount of hair of a couple of feathers, tipped with a minnow. Jig vertical along walls/bluffs or deep holes while drifting with the current this time of year.

This time of year most people use a walleye fly which is a feather fly with 2 feathers in it tipped with a minnow.Jig it right off of the bottom straight up and down.

We used to catch them on Norris lake trolling a June Bug spinner and nightcrawler slow and deep. Also jigging a heavy spoon 20'-25' under lights off the main channel. I haven't fished Norris for many years so I'm not sure how many pure strain walleyes are left as opposed to Saugeye(Walleye/Sauger hybrid).

Best Walleye night I ever had my friend and I limited out with a combined 10 fish and a total weight of 80 pounds. No fish under 28 inches.

That was Halloween evening 1998. Snowing like crazy. Fished all night until 6am on Chautauqua Lake in Westers NY. Landed over 100 walleye and about 5 musky.

We were using Storm Fire Tiger Thundersticks. By morning our fingers were bleeding. Once in a lifetime!

You can go to Ontario and do that in the daylight fairly often in June and July.

Back in the 90's and early 2000's you could do it just about any day below great falls dam on center hill.
Now if you catch a limit you're doing great.
