Short version of the story. Passed him up last year cause only one side. Know he is at least 4.5 when I saw his rack was going downhill, took him out. This is what I was shooting through at 80-yards at 7:35 this morning.
.
Have not weighed him yet but he got heavy by the time I drug him 75-yards to the truck.
This is what his heart looked like. He ran about 30-yards and hit a tree.
Heard two bucks fighting back in the thicket early but then decided they were probably chorus frogs so I ignored them. Then at seven, two small bucks came by and then a doe got by me. I saw this one coming just bits and pieces and was able to coax him close by clicking like a frog. At 80-yards, he hit a small opening and I took the shot. He jumped like a frog and ran right toward the truck. Wishe he had gone a little further.
I'm proud I got him drug out and loaded all by my very ownself. Ten deer, two toikies and coyote will about do me for TN. For sure I'm going to rest that thicket. This is the 14th deer I have killed from this stand over the years. I don't even hunt it until the leaves are off the trees but it is my #1 buck producer.
