Using your cellphone while hunting...will get you busted in the stand! As quietly and with a slow fluid movement to check a text last season, from a goober that shall remain anonymous btw , I was slipping my phone back into my pocket when the doe blew behind me, not 10 yds from my stand, and just after daylight. No kidding, the text said "watch out, there's one behind you!". :crazy:

I sometimes will get bored and break it out to text or get on tndeer. Its hard to stay paying attention the whole time especially when your not seeing anything.

Back in WI when I hunted with friends we text alot about what we were seeing and when we where moving. Now that I hunt alone I text my wife when I get in the stand and when I get back to my truck so she doesn't worry. Otherwise I just read my Kindle or watch the woods.

No problem buddy! This incident happened last year, and I actually killed the buck that was following that doe within about 2 min of her blowing. I guess she was unsure what I was and moved on cautiously...while the buck kept on her trail. She left without a boyfriend that morning.

i use my phone to text buddys while they are hunting the other side of the county. then if i can't get a hold of them i'm on tndeer to see who all got a deer and who all is still out trying.

I use it a good amount. But some places on our farms we have terrible service so it just stays in the pocket which is nice to.

It's fine in TN, but, be aware that there are some states where it is illegal for hunters to use electronic communication while hunting.

With 2 daughters I have to text while on stand to keep in touch with them. Although texting cost me a nice 9pt last year during archery season. I use it also to keep in touch with whoever is hunting with me.

we had radios and would pick up other people on our channels. one of my buddies always liked to ripp one off over the radio. funny think was he never killed any deer.

One time I made the mistake of leaving my phone in my bag at the base of the tree (I no longer leave ANYTHING at the base of my tree) and I got a text. Every 5 mins, it reminded me... as well as everything else in the county as it rattled against an empty water bottle.

I like that! A big part of me wishes the darned things had never been invented. I text a very limited amount when hunting with someone - mainly to tell each other when we are intending to quit. To just randomly sit and text while hunting is something I refuse to do. I am out in the woods to get away from all that artificial crud.

Keeps me awake and alter a lot of times. Helps pass time in those 6+ hr sits. I'm mostly on Tndeer while in the stand. :grin: so far, I'm not sure it's cost me any deer yet.
