The plan is to get my 8 year old daughter out there this weekend after anything she wants to shoot. She got her first turkey this spring with my 20g and hoping she's up to the task with my 336c .35 rem. Myself and my dad both shot our first deer with this gun. I've got it dialed in and am pumped.

Only wrench is a soccer game at noon on Saturday mom won't let us miss. I plan on taking her to our cabin in Hickman Friday and hunting first few hours Saturday morning, go to soccer game, then head to Jackson county to hunt the FIL's place Saturday evening and Sunday morning.

I'd love to either get her one at our place or one with her Papa at his place on the plateau….or both

Below are regs for those wondering…

Same boat, he killed his first Turkey this spring so hopefully his luck continues hes 9 and be his first deer hunt. Has a baseball tournament but I told everyone he wouldn't be there. He's now put a box of ammo through his 350 legend.
I think I'm more excited than him.

Just double checked the 336c 35rem that my boy will be using Saturday and it's good to go with 200gr Hornady
200gr is the only way to go with a 35rem. I bought in bulk 200gr Hornady. Haven't shot one shell yet and always wondered (hoped) they shot well out of it. Haven't shot any because I have so many REM Core-Lok shells. When I run out of them in 5 years or so 🤣, I'll try out the Hornady. Good to hear they shoot well for sure.

Best of luck dude! Hope your boy has a good opportunity and shoots straight!

Everything that's been hit with the 200gr hasn't made it 10 yards, if they move at all.

I've been down in south florida all week working. All week I've been getting daily pics in our food plot morning and evening. A doe with a yearling daily and other times another doe, a spike, a 5 pt, and a 10 has came through at shooting light. I think we have a good shot but not sure what to do about the doe with the yearling. I kinda want to let them walk but not sure my boy will.

We can't hunt Saturday because we have a football playoff game. Had what I thought was a perfect setup for Sunday until the predicted wind shifted. Plan B isn't bad though. Tomorrow will be about picking out the perfect snacks, coloring pages, and books to make him want to do it every single day. I don't care if we scare off every deer within a mile as long as he catches the fever.

Isn't that the truth! I have to make sure her iPad is charged. Putting that on the list 🤣. Already have to make a grocery run for her snacks. Geez…I remember the days my dad would pack nothing other than a sleeping bag so I could sleep at the base of his tree and wake up to him dropping stuff on me to wake up when he heard a deer coming

Only a couple of years left with my 14 year old but we are ready. The youngest out did her last year with a 6pt and my daughters biggest is a spike. The youngest has plans this weekend and won't be hunting. The oldest is determined to kill one bigger than her sisters last year. I only have 2 deer on camera that are bigger and hopefully big sis gets a shot at one.

My son seems to actually want to go. I believe we will put a blind up on a long narrow plot that is seeing a lot of use right now. He hasn't killed a deer so if it's brown, it's at least getting shot at.
I've got 2 fired up to go this weekend and both have declared "they aren't waiting for the big boys, if it's brown it's down dad!" good luck dads!!! this is awesome weather for a juvy weekend!

Sounds right.

My daughter's first and you would have thought she had just killed a world's record!

I keep holding out hope that one of my daughters will want to go one of these days, but I'm not holding my breath. I'll have two nephews to start taking along with their dad in a few more years though. They are too you right now but one of them already has the fever.

Good luck to all the dads and kiddos this weekend!

My oldest first deer was a doe. She's killed 5 so far and a spike being the biggest. Little sister first sit, first time hunting, killed a 6pt. We don't have a ton of property to hunt so we are happy for the meat regardless.

Oh how I miss taking my boys, the excitement leading up to the hunt took me back to my childhood! I was blessed in the fact both my boys love the outdoors and especially hunting! Most memorable hunts of my life are with them and my Dad! Good luck to all the kids this wknd!!
