Take some flour, add salt and pepper to your liking..........dredge the trout in the flour mix and pan fry in butter until golden brown. It doesn't take long for trout to cook, as soon as it starts flaking, remove from pan and eat.

Grilled in butter & garlic in a foil boat

OR

breaded and baked

I prefer the first two choices better

I always cooked it in the campsite the same day I caught it. Put a pat of butter in the cavity, sprinkle with some season salt, and squeeze a lemon in it. Tightly wrap in aluminum foil & toss on the coals for a few minutes.

I smoke all of mine. Those that we do not eat immediately I remove the meat from the bones and make a dip with it. My friends and I usually save up a bunch of trout and serve them as snacks during the day when we are doing an all day BBQ. The dip is good too for people snacking during the day. Our kids all love them. They will come by saying they are hungry 3-4 hours before the pork will be ready and we give them a trout.
