crud on my guns! I have to solvent and wire the crap out of my guns to get rid of that stuff! It is accurate but geez!! May be going back to pryrodex!

Hmm,I never have noticed it in mine.I started useing pyrodex,it was dirty, then I thought i'd try 777,and guess what??? Its also dirty! LOL Blackpowder is just dirty natured and no way to get around it I guess, unless you switch to smokelss ML..They seem equally dirty to me and I clean the same whether its pyrodex or 777..But the 777 does seem a bit more accurate and consistant.

Huh? I have been using pyrodex pellets and my groups were terrible, I was holding in a sheet of paper but never could get a tight group. Plus my cleaning time was as bad!!! Shot some 777 loose powder today, man what a difference! 2in group at 100yds and took no time to clean up. I know it may be different with different guns, but I can't imagine that pyrodex is cleaner.

I have found with the guns we have here the 777 is dirty but we found that it gets bad if you are using more powder than the gun is burning efficiently with the load your using.

i dont think cleaning the 777 is that bad. i just run the bore brush down the barrel and then a T/C saturated cleaning patch and then a patch with bore butter and its good to go.

Went back to pyrodex this year. It does not leave the crud ring in my Omega as the triple seven did.

You could try BreakFree bore cleaning foam. Just spray some in and let it settle for about 15 minutes. You would be amazed how much crud it removes with just a few swabs.

when i use 777 loose it only takes one spit wet patch and one dry to load the next. i average 1.25-1.5" groups. it takes 5 wet patches and one dry to get clean.

ive been shooting white hots pellets this week, not as nasty, and i am averaging .75" groups at 100. i could probably load 4 back to back without swabbing but i am anyway in between shots. it only takes about 2 wet patches and one dry to get clean.

Finished sighting in my scope yesterday and shot a total of 12 times. I was using 3 777 pellets and shot 5 times to get the scope close, then ran a brush down the barrel and checked the breech plug. Shot a group of 3 with the 300 grain PB, then tried the 250 grain PRB. They still loaded easy and the 1st shot 5" high, shot again to see if it was a flyer and it was beside the 1st. Adjusted the scope and put 2 holes almost touching in the 1inch circle, so that's what I'm staying with. Bottom line shot 12 shots without running any wet patches and was still able to load easy with the 777 peelets.

Big J, I dont know what kind of gun your shooting but I shot pyrodex for years untill switching to 777 last year. This year I went to the white hots and its amazing how much less they foul a barrel up, Im shooting a TC Triumph which is a breeze to clean any how but I can shot 6 times now and still hold a great pattern at 100yds. Also it takes half the patches to clean then the 777 did and you dont have no powder ring either...give them a try, im hooked.

777 always left a powder ring in my old CVA Optima. I'll have to decide what I'm going to shoot when I get my new CVA Accura!

Did you measure the depth of the load? You should always mark your ramrod at the muzzle when a fresh load is fully seated in a clean barrel.

Mine loaded easy without swabbing, too, but the bullet stopped a half inch less deep in the barrel, because of the crud ring.

In my gun, the 777 crud ring only happens with pellets. I've had no problems when using loose powder, be it 777, or Pyrodex.

I was shocked last week. After cleaning my barrell thoroughly at home, I looked into the barrel and I could see a distinct ring at the place where the base of the sabot would be. The ring wasn't just crud, it was indented right into the barrel. This is in a TC Triumph that I bought new last Christmas, and has probably less than 50 shots through it.
