I thought that was taken down back when they first posted it.... because of the uproar it caused with people having permits?

Unfortunately it is still up. A friend told me about it. I looked it up yesterday. The scary part is you can then use that info to look up an address.

The one thing I did notice was this:

Source: Tennessee Department of Safety; public records include permits issued before Dec. 3, 2011, and valid as of today.

So maybe if your permit was issued after Dec 3, 2011 you will not so up on the search.

Well, that's one public record that shouldn't be public!!

If someone want to find me, they better be able to kill the alarm, poison the guard dog, and navigate the "minefield"..... if they make it past all that, they will be on video/pics by the security cameras.

Griz -

I am with you (well except the minefield... and beyond that they better hope that me or the misses are not home!

I just think they are making it too easy to find info on people.

Ditto. I do not show up on the search. Which is the way I like it. Mine was issued after Dec 3, 2011.

The Tennessee Firearms Association has been working for years to close that database from public access such as this. It should be done and there is already another law, the voter database records, that could easily be used as a model.

It came close in 2008, 2009, and 2010 to being closed. Do you want to know why not?

Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey was planning to run for governor and he wanted the database to remain open so that he could obtain it and use it for his campaign. That is right, Ron Ramsey wanted to keep the database open so that his political use would be maintained. He did not even consider allowing it be used for direct communications (e.g., mailing to those on the list)or aggregate data (e.g., demographic summaries) but prohibiting the public redistribution of the list.

Firearms owners must take the need to be involved in the law and selection of legislators and governors seriously. They will sell your rights if enough corporate money is offered - even many of the so called "Republicans".
