It took over my plot this year and after bush-hogging, It's left the seed littered all over the ground. What are my options? I plant Winter Wheat, clover and Rape.

Should I just spray it, disc and sow? I'm thinking that process will leave me in the same situation as I'm in now.

How about burning? Will that kill the seed out?

This is just my opinion and what I done last year under similar situation.
You can -- burn down with round up and broadcast your wheat, clover and rape. It will come up.

This is what I like the best, is just disk, broadcast wheat clover & rape. The key if you can wait as close to Oct as possible. The weeds want come back this year and not as much next year.
The wheat will choke out and will not allow any competing weeds and the clover will thrive this spring. 100 pounds per acre on the wheat.
Next year you will be set but you may still have to spray herbicde if you don't want the thistles in the summer time. It never really bothered me about weeds in my fall food plots because when you sow them the weeds want come up and plus some weeds are good for the deer in spring.

BSK, thanks for the phone time, it's much appreciated!

CWT, you said basically what Brian said. "Don't worry with it this go around and deal with it in the spring".

Thistle has a deep tap root. You need herbacide to kill it. Doesnt grow in winter so you dont have to worry about a fall/winter plot.
