Snared yotes. The pic is minus 4 already skinned and in the freezer.

I am selling them green.They will run between $5-$18 tops here.I dont have the time or desire to stretch and dry them. I would not skin them but the buyer wont buy them otherwise!

Nice haul. Skinning is 75% of the work, and you will get at least 3x as much this year if you put them up and send off to the auction house.

Awesome haul. I've dabbled with snares but never gave it a chance. Congrats, looks like you have it figured out!

Amen, I can't blame you on selling them green. I started trapping coons last year and ended up with 35 +/- of them off of 130 acre parcel of property. I threw each one in the freezer, didn't even skin them, and my local fur buyer gave me $5/ea. It is more of a management tool for me than a lucritive side job. I only caught about 18 this year, didn't get to trap as heavily, and got $6/ea.

My fur buyer, who is a very knowledgable ex-trapper and now has his own wildlife control business says coyotes are a "glory animal" indeed, but around my parts they're typically not worth much. He claims the valuable part of a coyotes pelt is the underside and many of our coyotes around here have very sparse fur in that region...some have hardly any at all. I'm sure that is different in different areas obviously. I've shot a couple and flipped them over and witnessed exactly what he is talking about. Nevertheless, I've been doing some homework and going to go full bore after 'yotes and 'cats next season.

I hate these yotes. I wish at times I could go after them full time as they sure put the hurts on what little small game populations we have left around here.There was a time you could walk to the edge of town and start hunting and limit out on rabbit,squirrel and Pheaseants all in the same morning but those days are long gone with "clean" farming practices and a over abundance of yotes....sad.

How close were your traps? For example, did all those yotes come from the same general area?
 
I been watchin a guy trap in Canada on Youtube. TheWildNorth is the guy. He does trapping tales on youtube. Everyone I have showed has really enjoyed the guys videos.

Here is a good place to start your learning process.

On avg. I set a 10 in loop 10 inches off of the ground. The 10 inches off of the ground is critical.You can go wider on your loop but try not to take it past 12-13 inches. You can also check with for tutorial videos.www.dakotalinesnares.com
