LORETTO � The 16th annual Indian Artifact Show will be held from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at The Burke Civic Center in Loretto.

There is no admission charge. The show will feature exhibitors from Kentucky, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas, South Carolina, Georgia and Ohio.

The Loretto Senior Citizens will have lots of good food available including homemade chicken and dumplings, soups, chili, cakes and pies and other great tasting treats.



Rex Moore of Waynesboro will have a big display of tools and points collected from a paleo chipping site in Wayne County. They are reported to be more than 12,000 years old.

Charles Moore of Florence, Ala., will have his new book, �The Archaeology of the Southeast� on display. Also attending will be Kevin Dowdy of Bainbridge, Ga., and Richard Reed of Eufaula, Ala., authors of �Best of the Best, A Point Guide to Artifacts of the Deep South,� Volumes 1, 2, 3 and 4. Volume 5 will soon be released. Civil War relics, fossils and other primitive tools will also be on display.


Also attending this year will be John Broster, Tennessee State archaeologist; Jerry Dickey, authenticator from Moore County; and Dennis Bushey, artifact restorer from Cullman County, Ala.

Anyone who has artifacts to be identified or appraised can bring them to the Saturday event.
