For a while, one of my clients on the Cumberland Plateau held the Matson's Lab record for oldest wild deer ever cementum annuli aged. The doe was aged at 19 1/2 years old. I hear since, they have aged a couple in the low 20s.
Man I had one like that the other day at 20 yards. I wanted to bust her so bad but didn't have time to mess with her. I'll try again when I've got more time on my hands. She looked like a wiener dog coming through the woods way in the back of a line of does watching every deer in front of her the whole way. I was glad I had climbed up about 30' cause she was still trying to check me out up above the tops of the smaller trees around me.
