One last point. Before the garden grows up. He broke the tip but then resharpened it.

There's a field a couple of miles from me that supposedly turned up hundreds of those things back in the seventies when it used to get plowed. It's just pasture now but I always wonder what's still in the ground over there. I've found hundreds of points less than a mile away from that field and not a single one has been a t.t.

Turkey tails were not from Tennessee. Mostly from Ohio. So if this was found in Tennessee it's most likely a trade from Ohio.

I found one in the 70's that was @ 6" long. I found it in Florence, AL, on private land that bordered the TN River. I never knew they were not made here in the South. Thanks for the info. I found many different points while a student at UNA during the 70's. I hunted for arrowheads all my life and found my first intact Clovis point in 1983. I guess the TN River was a great way for Native Americans to travel!

Turkeytails are found all over Tennessee. The one shown is a Harrison. Variety.

I could be wrong but I didn't think that any of the tribes living in Tennessee made them. Thought they were traded and made in Ohio?

They were part of the Adena culture, and many of the Harrison variety were made of Dover and Ft. Payne chert here in Tennessee.
