After 3 really tough seasons, mostly due to the poor quality of his guide lol, my youngest boy connected on his first gobbler this beautiful Easter Sunday! We got into our blind at first light overlooking a clover plot we put in last fall. The woods were soaking wet and the birds wanted to dry out before playing the game. After a couple hours of uneventful waiting we went back down to the house for a quick breakfast and to warm up a little. About 9:30 the sun broke the cloud cover up good and we headed back up the ridge. We parked about 100 yards from the food plot and as we slowly walked toward our blind we could see several birds right in front of it…we hunkered down in some brush and waited about 30 minutes for them to work off into the timber. Once it was clear we made a hasty push forward towards the blind. We got in clean and within about 2 minutes of us sitting down I cut hard at them followed with a series of yelps. The woods exploded!!!! I heard 6-7 birds converging on our food plot from all directions. At this point our adrenaline is getting pretty high in anticipation of what's to come…it didn't take but a couple more minutes and a lone hen pops out at 80 yards with ole butterball in tow. He strutted to us over the course of the next 3-5 minutes spitting and drumming the whole way while the ridges around us echoed from the symphony of other birds. I tell my boy " get ready I'm flipping your safety off" he cuts his eyes at me and said "dad I'm shaking so bad". "Take a deep breath son, you've got plenty of time". As the gobbler cleared a small cedar tree my boy took aim….BOOM!!!! The ole .410 rolled him at 25 yards and the celebration began! That boy is 10 feet tall and bulletproof now 😂😂😂

Thats freaking awesome dude congratulations

Congrats!!!

If that is your new property, you have done a great job reclaiming that old field!
Yes sir it is! I brought in 20 goats a year ago and they have really helped me out! The quality of the grass/clover is incredible. Also the mid September and mid March brush hogging really gave the new growth a boost
