Used to love it. We used to wade the mountain streams out in Ca growing up. A6-8" wild trout is a lot of fun. We used to catch bream and sun fish the same way. I may try it out in our lake but there are some bass in there that would break a lot of line. lol.

With the new hot show The Madison, think we'll see a surge in fly fishing like after a River Runs Through It?
I'd say some are gonna give it a whirl.
A new breed of Googans🤣
When that movie came out it seemed like it only took two weeks for 10,000 more people to show up on the Hiawassee and 9000 of those had Hamilton county plates, all decked out in brand new Orvis gear. Some of the rudest most inconsiderate people I've ever came across. However, watching them trying to cast could provide some good entertainment! Didn't do any good to try to coach or help them, they were already experts! 🙄

I saw some that looked like they were models for a Cabela's catalog, but whatever floats their boat, I didn't care. I just hate it when something become the "hip" thing, it just makes it suck for the folks that were doing it before it became the new "it" activity.

I dont get it...

Back when I was in high school, I was all in... even tied all my own flies.

Did that for 2 or 3 years, and I just got bored with it.

I guess it was like bow hunting for me as well... I was all into that for 6 or 7 years, then no longer cared for it.

Funny how that works sometimes.

That being said, I LOVE trout fishing the streams out west. But I use spinning gear and plugs now.

Never heard of that show but fly fishing has been marketed for yrs by beer companies. No watched traditional tv much anymore so i doubt it will have any effect

Yeah i never cared for it. Iveslways been an uktra light spinning guy. As far as bowhunting, i went away from it for awhile after losing a really nice buck but now its all i want to do. I cant make myself use a gun

Years ago I was catching BIG bluegills on a floating ant at Hidden Hollow in Cookeville. Some guy from, best I could tell, the same place as the stooges walked up and watched for a couple of minutes then asked " that thing hard to wueerk"?

Back and forth, back and forth, back and forth……, drives me crazy to watch 99% of the folks cast. All that motion is totally unnecessary.

I think we may see a small uptick. Alot of people will find out its not for them and give it up. I expect only a small amount will stay with it. I just hope I'm right!!

Yeah , American Creek in the Katmai National Park. Can only get there by float plane. Only two lodges per year are granted access. I was at Royal Wolf Lodge. I work two weeks out in NoCal to pay for it. Unbelievable.

Try tightening up on a 100+ pound tarpon on a fly. You might get it then lol

My guide said to me " if you ain't grunting , you ain't pulling hard enough ", on a hundred plus pounder in Apalachiacola FL.

BTW …. That 11 weight Sage Xi3 rod was sold to me by SCN. It broke in two places when we got to the leader, and the fly popped out! Ha!
