Suppressor Cover

I have an Armageddon and an LS Wild. The Armageddon is hands down the better cover, but for something lightweight and minimal shooting the LS is plenty good.
On another forum people liked them ok. The metal buckles will get hot and burn the snot out of you. That's why I went a different direction.
these are one of the best out there for anti slip and exact fit on your can. The buckles will get hot but thats common on a lot of buckle style. Ive tried a bunch and that one or the Col Tec were by far my favorite.
I run one ALL THE TIME for nothing else then it protects me from accidental burns cause those cans get HOT HOT!
One thing to note is depending on your scope height off bore really look for quality ones that are not "thick" or have parts that stick up because you will see it in the bottom of your scope if you have it mounted really low.
I wasnt a fan of bungie style ones or rope style ones. Never could get them tight enough they didnt start to walk off. That Can Chap has a slip resistant high heat silicone which is REALLY nice to keep it from walking plus a bungie rear clasp to lock it even more.
col tec has a rear cord you can add as well to help in that reguard. It works but its kinda a pain if you are taking the can off and on a lot. You dont have to add that option or use it but its a nice option if you keep it on a gun most of the time.

I do a lot of high volume AR shooting almost exclusively suppressed and I've never used a cover. I'm not saying they're not a good idea, I've just never felt I needed one. I do a lot of transition drills and I've never been burned. I would shoot how you plan to first and see if you actually want/need one.

You must not be using a scope because if you did, you would understand the need.

Are you talking about the heat from the suppressor distorting the view through the scope?
NX8. I understand mirage. But I'm not using high magnification or shooting at distance. The OP said "short groups" or "5-10rd" bursts so I'm assuming it won't be an issue for him either.
"NEED" is an obvious NO....You dont NEED one if you own a suppressor for sure. SHOULD you for safety reasons alone? IMO yes, that can will heat up to 700 degrees in 3-5 shots and if you or a kid or someone else touches it or grabs it by mistake it WILL burn. Running without on an AR doing drills and switches makes that risk even higher on your legs and hands or putting your gun in your truck etc and it lays on a seat or floor mat it will melt them if its not cooled down.
and on a hunting gun and a warm day that mirage can built up really fast if you have your scope mounted low and shooting at higher magnifications.
Again, you dont NEED one at all. Does the benefit vs relative cost is up to the pocket/budget of the user. Again just my opinion but $75 as a 1x fee to protect my hands and kids hands and stuff was worth it to me.

Well, you know opinions are like a holes and everyone has one. Obviously I am one, so I have to disagree with the NO statement. To each his own.

I'm confused as to what you're disagreeing with? No you don't NEED one?
I mean no you don't need one to operate and use a suppressor. I think we are saying the same thing (if I'm reading your post right) that you SHOULD though for the benefits vs the risk of not using one?
I'm not saying you don't need one or shouldn't buy one. I'm only giving my personal opinion based on actual experience. I will never say or give an opinion on something I have not personally done. And what I'm saying is, at least twice a month, I shoot a minimum of 300-500 rds through a suppressed 10.3" rifle and a suppressed 16" rifle doing every sort of transition and dynamic drill you can think of and I have yet to burn myself or wish I had a cover. This is just an opinion. Nothing to get upset or defensive over. All I'm suggesting is that the OP actually shoot how he described and then decide if he needs or wants one.
totally get your point and 1000% understand. not defensive or invaliding your opinion at all. I personally just dont go by the "it hasnt happened yet"
I can drive without a seatbelt for YEARS and never need it, doesnt mean its not safer to wear it if I can. Again if you dont feel the need for one or it effects your shooting then for sure dont use one. Its not mandated or someone is looked poorly on for NOT running one. Its all personal choice for an item thats not required to use.

When you spray and pray you don't need one.
Armageddon Gear hands-down. The elastic cord allows you to tighten it behind the can so there is no risk of blowing it forward off the rifle while shooting. I have seen many a cover launched downrange....

If you don't use one and don't lay a towel or something over the suppressor, mirage becomes a problem at higher magnification after a few shots. It also gets hot quickly and stays hot for a while. I made covers for mine with some backpack cloth and a sheet of coat insulation for just a few bucks.
