Did anyone else get out for this? Me and a friend got our yaks out to Old Hickory and put in a Shutes Branch about 7pm and fished until 11pm. We thought the topwater bite would be on fire because of the full moon, supermoon at that, but we didn't see one single hint of topwater feeding. It was very serene and peaceful out there though.

We did catch fish, but using tactics we'd use in the middle of the day this time of year. We paddled over to a sailboat marina and were pitching finesse worms and jigs to docks and we each caught 5. My biggest was about 15" so not the size we were hoping for either.

Just wondering if anyone else headed out expecting excellent fishing and found it just to be about average or maybe just Old Hick was slow for some reason.

do they make lite kits for the yaks? would like to have 1 & wondered about using them at nite or late evening . thinking more along rivers than lakes

Yea there is a company called Supernova that makes some pretty awesome LED kayak kits. There are also pole lights you can stick in a rod holder that work well. If you want to do it for significantly cheaper you can make your own light for about 12 dollars. That's what I did. You'll need:

About 3 feet of PVC pipe
LED flashlight
Zipties
Electrical Tape
Light diffuser off of a night light

Ziptie the flashlight to the edge of the PVC pipe near the top and electrical tape, lots of tape, the light diffuser to the top of the flashlight. Turn the flashlight on and bingo, you have a light visible from quite a distance. Just make sure you get PVC pipe that fits in the rod holder. 1.5" will do.
